Okay, it may seem like I just hit the lottery or something, but seriously, it isn’t as expensive to buy a star online as you think.
Right now it seems every single day I see some sort of news about a new star being discovered or some new supernova being documented by a bunch of kids.
If you live in a dungeon and haven’t seen the news recently, the satellite Gaia has been keeping both professional and amateur astronomers super busy after revealing millions and millions of never before seen or documented stars.
And it’s not just stars it’s finding.
It’s estimated that around 20,000 new planets will be found as well. Think about that, 20,000 new planets. You got a wonder if ET really is out there somewhere!
But the reason I’m rambling on about all this is because next week is my wife’s birthday. And I really wanted to get her something unique.
She’s pretty easy to shop for. And she hasn’t hinted at anything that she wanted special this year either. So I was kind of at a loss.
Some looking around through all the hoopla for the satellite and all the galaxy stuff, I ran across a couple websites that were actually selling stars.
Now I have no idea if it really means you own it. I can’t see how it does. But it is pretty cool.
And it was one site where they give you an owner’s certificate and everything.
Looking at the pictures of the certificates I was kind of impressed. They actually look pretty good. Even a little official.
That’s when I thought, “why not get one for my wife?” and so I did.
Now is not the only thing I’m going to get her. But I thought at least this one thing would be one-of-a-kind and something she wouldn’t forget to quickly.
I plan on putting it in a really nice frame before I give it to her. I figure will hang it up in the living room. It should make for a really nice conversational piece.
After all, I can’t recall ever going to someone’s house and seeing a star certificate hanging on their wall.
And with all the excitement over the Gaia satellite and all the new star discoveries and planets and galaxies and everything else that goes with it, as though to be really neat idea.
It might even prompt me to go out and buy my own telescope.
It’s actually something I’ve always wanted to do. But you know, you get busy, life gets in the way, things just happen, and you forget about the dumb little ideas that you always wanted to do.
Astrology for me is just one of those little things that got lost in the daily grind of life.
But I really am excited about all of these new discoveries. I mean 400 million new stars that have never been seen before. How cool is that?
And if she really likes the certificate, who knows, maybe I can actually find a new star and documented in name after. How cool would that be!
